Course Dates

The dates for the 12/13 winter programme are 15th October 2012 - 22nd February 2013 with a three week break over Christmas and New Year. During that period the course will be mixed between being on site at Skern, and away on expeditions. The break over Christmas will be between the 14th December and the 7th January.

Pricing

The course cost is £5000 for the entire 16-week programme. This includes all of the equipment, coaching and transport during the programme.This price does not include food and accommodation which is available at £100 per week. All prices are inclusive of VAT.

A number of different sources are available through which to fund your course. This could be from savings, a personal/family loan or alternatively through a Professional Career Development Loan. PCDL's are commercial bank loans that can be used to help pay for work related learning. You can borrow between £300 and £10,000 to help support the cost of up to two years learning (or three years if it includes one year's relevant unpaid practical work). The government will pay the interest on the loan while you are learning and for one month afterwards. You will then need to start repaying the loan as you would any other commercial loans product. The loan can be used to pay course fees or other costs such as travel and living expenses. You can also use the loan to supplement other forms of support such as grants and bursaries.

As the Professional and Career Development Loan is a commercial loan product, you should make sure you have investigated all the funding options that may be open to you to ensure you take an informed decision about wether the loan is right for you.

Enrolment 

Enrolment onto the programme is by application. Places are limited to cohorts of six to ensure that the quality of delivery can remain high, allowing more individually tailored coaching to be available to students. Successful applicants will be invited to attend a meeting, where instructional staff will talk through the syllabus of the various awards and set realistic targets depending on the entry level. The course is designed to be flexible and aims to accelerate your progress through the award schemes. Provided the pre-requisites are met, then there will be opportunities to attend assessment courses for national governing body awards.
